Basic 850: An Online Wordbook

or English through Pictures Book I, makes use of 226 Basic words with their different forms, 15 words for numbers, two for measures, two international names, and one for American money used internationally.

The Basic words are:

airplane, another, bookshelves, bread-box, icebox, nobody.

Words for numbers are:

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirty, forty, fifty.

Other words for measures are:

inch, yard. (You will see, among the Basic words, "foot" and "feet.")

International names:

Mr., Mrs.

The word for American money:

dollar.
