  Flat
is one of the 100 words used for general qualities. Flat in French is plat. Flat in German is platt. Flat is the quality of a smooth floor, or the glass-like face of the water when there is no wind. Ogden later made an addition to this word: flat as unit of rooms for living in a building, like the one made of a bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen.

Flatbed is a name of an automobile which has a great flat board pulled by a front part with a driver's seat in it. See pictures at <http://tinyurl.com/37gdvu>.

Flatboat is a name of a ship with a wide body and a flat floor, used generally on the river. See pictures at <http://tinyurl.com/yu4anw>.

Other possible words made with flat are flatfeet, flatfish, flatfoot, flathead, flatiron, flatland, flatlander, flatting, and flattop.
